How to Obtain Birth Records

There are many different delivery options when it comes to obtaining birth records. One option is to receive a hard copy of the birth records. Another is to receive an electronic version. Deciding which way you want to receive your birth records depends on what kind of situation you’re in. For instance, if you need your birth records immediately you should opt for an electronic version as it arrives much faster than a hard copy, which is delivered in the mail.

Aside from ordering your birth records, you can also go to your local vital record statistics office and get what you need directly from them. In order to gain access to the birth record, you must provide the office of vital records with some personal information, including the name on the birth certificate. If the name has changed, you need to bring proof of this change. You will also need to provide the birth date of the birth certificate you’re accessing. If you’re searching for the birth certificate of a person whose birth date you don’t know, you’ll still be able to access their birth records but there will likely bee an extra fee. Going to a vital records office to obtain birth records is probably the most inconvenient option as you not only need to locate where the nearest office is, but bring in all the information the office requires.
